It's been over a year. That's a lot of time to think. I'll probably never stop writing, I just won't be doing it here.

Anonymous. It seems most bloggers quit over tiny things. There was a comment on one of the last blogs and it was, simply, gibberish. And the person who wrote it was well-meaning and smart and had been indoctrinated to the point that he or she couldn't recognize gibberish when spouting it. I had an existential crisis moment of, "If this is what passes for discourse, I'm done." I turned in my human card and quit writing publicly almost completely.
Gibberish is certainly annoying, but I don't understand why you'd have the expectation that all of the comments you get on the Internet are worth reading.
That seems like setting yourself up for disappointment.
Beyond that, given that you often don't respond to direct questions in the comments anyway...why get invested in them?
It's pretty unfortunate that Rory and his whole crew, including MacYoung, shut down all public writing as soon as some people started disagreeing with them in comments.
I wonder at what point Rory will post a mea culpa about his "Covid is nothing to worry about, just like these fake crises from the 70s" post. That take aged about as well as Sean Hannity calling this a hoax.
Still no mea culpa about Rory's "Covid is nothing to worry about" posts, Anon, and now we have an entire week where neither Rory nor any of his crew (Marc, Kasey, etc) have taken any stand on the countless instances of police caught on video beating protestors, shooting at pregnant non-protestors in cars, shooting at journalists, pushing a 75 year old man to the ground.
None of you are willing to speak up against your tribe. All of you are cowards.
@Tom - Rory does not have the intellectual integrity, or chops for that matter, to issue a mea culpa. He's a self-proclaimed libertarian who lives off a government pension for pete's sake.
Patreon is him hiding out with his echo chamber of fan boys and girls who hang on every word and behind his “directors” who merely parrot everything he’s already said.
As for him and his crew not standing up against the system, they ARE the system. MacYoung’s Facebook page is a sewer of misogynistic, racist post while he masquerades as a poor man's (and lesser educated) Jordan Peterson. Kasey changed his last name on social media to “Odinson” a popular white supremacist reference, all during the unrest sparked by the murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis, just miles away from his small town cop jurisdiction. He has been vocal in the past of his support for Bob Kroll.
Their "VioTribe" clan caters to frightened small town, mid western white people who take #violencevacations to quell their fragile little nerves. They are part of the rotten culture that explains to "nice respectable white people" why police brutality is ok.
Rory is who he is, he had original things to say in 1 or 2 books - the rest is him hanging onto to an identity of "original thinker" that has long since expired.
