Hiya Rory,
I did a google search for 'stomp kick to the thigh' and your blog came up. I'm writing a young adult sci fi which has a teenage girl stomp kick an adult (her dad actually, but for the 'nicest' of reasons) but he gets out of the kick. Could a person with quick reflexes twist our of the way and awoid such a kick?
Most kicks are easy to avoid, especially a stamp, and a stamp to the thigh takes quite a windup, so yeah. Unless there were another element (attack from surprise, a feint, etc.) that kick would almost never contact an aware person... except, with that targeting and unless the kicker is much larger than the kickee, it will do almost no damage.
So there is a good chance that I would just stand there, take the kick and laugh. I've also seen a lot of people try that kick on a stationary target and push themselves over.

Hiya Rory, thanks for getting back to me. Can you help me out one little bit more, please, what sort of move would a martially arts trained kid (forgot to mention the ma thing on your blog) be likely to make apart from a kick to the groin and how could it me avoided?
Yeggy-
This is starting to get complicated. Why don't you e-mail rory with a few more details:
rory@easystreet.net
Are you involved with NaNoWriMo? Actively working with a critique group? A published author? Is publication the goal?
And the specific questions- what type of story, what martial art has the kid trained in? How long? How good? How much spirit? What's the trigger? Many many things make a realistic answer very hard.
